My reading has taken a hit this month with everything that’s been going on. My high reading count has finally caught up with me! So this is just a short post and I’m jumping straight in.

David Mogo, Godhunter by Suyi Davies Okungbowa ***** (Review Copy)
I loved the setting and story. David Mogo is a demigod in Lagos ten years after gods have fallen and destroyed their normal society. The deities and actual story had a lot of promise. It’s split into three novella like stories and the first was interesting and exciting enough to keep me reading. unfortunately I feel like the execution of the book didn’t match the premise and it gets more and more apparent as the book goes on. The pace completely stops in places and the characters personalities seem to switch up between scenes. It’s still an interesting story in an intriguing setting that I enjoyed reading but it wasn’t what I hoped.

Predatory (Port Lewis Witches #3) by Brooklyn Ray ***** (Review Copy)
This is the third novella in an NA contemporary fantasy series. Each book follows a new member of a circle of witches and every single time I pick up one of these books I think it can’t possibly be as good as the last one and yet. It is. They are. They always are. The writing is heavy with atmosphere and magic. Each character we follow feels unique. The emotions are so real and I love that we see so much of all the previous characters because they’re all together. Each book builds on the overall story but is a whole story in itself as it’s based on the single characters journey. The series is so magical and so very queer and I can’t wait to read the next one.

When I Am Through With You by Stephanie Kuehn *****
A twisty YA told through the main character recounting what happened during an school trip up a mountain and why he’s now awaiting trial for murder. I LOVED Charm & Strange by this author which is why I picked this one up and there were a lot of similarities in tone but it worked. It’s not a five star as I didn’t really like any of the characters but it was an engrossing YA with a slowly unwinding story which I love.
Don’t these covers look great together? That’s probably not what my main point here should be but they actually look really aesthetically pleasing. Anyway. Let me know if you’ve read any of these any we can chat books!!
Ohhh I got an ARC for Godhunter and I’ve been trying to find time to read it ever since. I didn’t know it was split into 3 sections?! Hmm, the whole demigod premise is rather intriguing so I really hope I’m not disappointed:/

Yeah. There’s small time jumps between each section. Just like a few weeks or months until the next part. The first one was definitely great to me so you might love the whole thing I just felt it stalled out a bit.
