I Am Currently…

There has been a lot going on in my life lately and with the scheduled posts I’ve had to do I’m feeling all out of sorts with what I have and haven’t told you and when.

I thought it would be a great time to do a new post idea. It’s by no means an original idea, I’ve seen loads of bloggers do their own takes on this but I’m going to go through what I’m currently up to and I’d love to hear about you in the comments too.

i am currently

I am currently lying in my new bed and in my new/old room.

I moved. Everything went really well. Thanks to everyone for the good luck wishes. It’s been a tiring couple of weeks but I can officially say my new/old room is sorted. I say new/old room as we moved back to our old house in east London that we’d had family staying in while we lived in Guernsey. So I’ve been here before but all my new furniture has now mixed with my old furniture and the good news is they’re getting on really well. No fights have broken out about floor space. I don’t like being stuck upstairs again as I’m not well enough to use them but I will deal.

i am currently reading

I’m currently reading The Sin Eaters Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

I’ve had a good month for reading. What with all my stuff going with the removal company and being in boxes I got a lot of reading done on my kindle at the start of the month. It slowed down once I’d settled in and got all my stuff back but I’m really enjoying The Sin Eaters Daughter so far.

i am currently watching

I’m currently watching Money Heist/La Casa De Papel

money-heist-part-2

I made the executive decision to get Netflix after I moved. I know, how did I not already have it?!? I don’t normally watch much TV so it has never really been worth it before but I really wanted to watch a show called Money Heist / La casa de papel. It’s a spanish show about…. A heist. It’s basically what you’d imagine oceans 11 but if HBO made it. It’s so good! And I’m watching it in Spanish with English subtitles hoping that I’ll just…. absorb the Spanish?

I haven’t done ANY Spanish this year it’s so bad. But I’ve also found that having to read the subtitles actually really helps me stay concentrated. I’m normally terrible at watching shows because I always zone out and don’t realise until half an hour later when I have no idea what’s happening (which is why I can’t listen to podcasts or audio books). But with it being in Spanish, if I zone out I know straight away because I have no idea what they just said.

Netflix also has a couple other shows in Spanish that look really good once I’ve finished too (I’m looking at you El Ministerio del Tiempo – time travelling secret agents trying to protect Spanish history? Sounds awesome!)

I am currently sorting through boxes

Most of my things from the move are out of boxes and in their new homes and that’s all great. But now that we’ve settled in it’s time to sort through all the things we put away in boxes before we left! The plan is to sell our house and move again within the year (hopefully) which means getting rid of a lot of the stuff that’s piled up from the 26 years we’ve lived here. We started doing this before our temporary move to Guernsey but there was plenty of stuff we decided we couldn’t part with that are now being relooked at now we’ve been without them for three years.

For me that started with books. I read exclusively on my kindle now (easier for me due to illness). I unhauled hundreds of books before the move 3 years ago but I’ve gone back through the ones I kept and unhauled another hundred. I now only have 30 physical books left. That’s it. One shelf. (although seeing as a only read ebooks maybe I need to relook at some of these too!)

And last but definitely not least:

i am currently writing

I am currently writing #ExcitingSpaceWIP

Yes, that’s what I’m calling it for now. I started writing about three days after the move because I have no chill and was too excited. But I am managing to stick to only writing two chapters a week in an attempt to not get completely obsessed and disregard everything else. (I don’t think this will last). I have five chapters done, twenty more to go. And x words written. By my calculations it will be done around the start of November.

What about you? What have you all been currently up to? What are you reading, or watching or crafting? I’d love to know in the comments

  1. Good idea for a post. I have seen similiar called Taking Stock, and sometimes it is good to step back in this way. Currently I am tackling chores that have waited too long and are now annoying me. Like clean the top of the kitchen cupboards. Reading a book called White Tears which is jolly good and not my usual type of book. I have a car boot full of stuff for a charity shop which I must take down, but I need a car parking space outside the shop!
Right now I am going to hang out some washing and chop down some ivy.
    Good luck with the boxes.

  2. Glad to hear that your move went well and things are settling into place. I can’t imagine having to move again in a year. We are thinking about moving and it is something I am dreading. I like the “currently I am….” starter. Currently I am knitting on a couple of projects trying to get them finished.

    1. We’ve been gearing up for the move for quite a few years now so at least it’s not a sudden surprise and I’m very lucky my parents do most of the work. That sounds fun. Deadlines? Or just things you’d like to get finished? I’ve just ordered myself some new yarn so I’m looking forward to that arriving.

  3. So glad to hear that the move went well, and you sound very chipper. 😄 I just finished reading Imperium, which is a novel about Cicero! Lots of intrigue and the court scenes are very exciting. Who knew? Today is our last big day on the roof (I hope), then regular life can begin again! Great news….two small rain storms this week and no more water coming in! 🎉

    1. Oh that book sounds interesting. I’ll have to look it up. Are you Donisthorpe on the roof? I hope you managed it and are now have a well earned rest while the rain stays out!

      1. The big stuff is all done, just the edging, gutters and some spots that will need multiple treatments of caulk and sealant. A couple of hours in the cool morning or after supper will have us finishing up.

  4. I agree with you about the Kindle – what a great invention! My Kobo currently has about 200 books so I got rid of all my physical books which freed up a lot of space. Great for us as we travel a lot. Also good if you can’t get to sleep as you don’t need to turn on a light to read!
