Before anyone worries, I haven’t abandoned my Christmas cross stitch, but I’ve been working on it since August and I needed a break. There’s only so long you can stay interested in stitching white on red and apparently my limit is 6 months!
I did do a few more of the snowflakes but it’s started to feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I know I am, and I’ve only got about a third left of the whole project to do but that’s still a long way. I think once I finish the bit I’m on it’ll be more exciting again, and then it’ll be time to fill in all the gold which will be fun.
But in the meantime, I’ve started a quick little cross stitch based on the notebooks I designed a couple of weeks ago. I changed the design slightly but here’s where I am after just a week of stitching:
Obvious progress! Yay! I’m using a scrap of 16 count adia in oatmeal and these two colours of floss. It was the hardest thing to narrow my stash down to just two colours! But this blue (dmc 3847) is absolutely gorgeous so that was an easy starting point. It doesn’t show up as nice in the pictures but trust me.
I’ll be going on holiday during the next SAL but I’ll still schedule an update, I’ll probably show you the dozen more snowflakes I’ve been doing on my Christmas cross stitch!
Here’s everyone else that is taking part in our stitchalong:
Avis / Claire / Gun / Carole / Kate / Lucyanne / Sue / Constanze / Debbie / Christina / Kathy / Margaret / Cindy / Helen / Steph / Linda / Mary Margaret / Heidi / Connie / Jackie / Sunny
We all post updates on whatever project we are sourcing every three weeks and is great to see the progress everyone is making.
Lovely, I agree it can be hard concentrating on one project

They are very pretty. They weren’t the original colour combo I was thinking of but when I saw them, I couldn’t resist!

I loved your notebooks so this will be lovely too. It’s nice to make a small project to give yourself the finish buzz now and again.

Thanks. And yes exactly. I’ve been stitching on this one some more today already and it’s actually growing haha

I completely get it and don’t blame you for being anxious to start something else i got so bored stitching all that for my poppy project.

Luckily I have my jungle SAL to switch off to when I’m tiring of Pooh and the gang, so I understand your feeling! These colors on your new project are lovely and I look forward to seeing more! Enjoy your holiday!

Your need to take a bread from the Christmas piece makes me feel better about apparently needing a break from caravans. 🙂 I don’t remember the notebook you refer to in this post, I’ll be looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

I know the feeling 🙂 You just want to throw the embroidery out of your sight and forget all about it! Then it is time for a change, you are doing the right thing 🙂

A small project is just the thing to break of the boredom on a larger project. It will be a nice break for you and then you can head back to snowflakes with a fresh start. Looking forward to seeing more 🙂
