I got tagged the other week by Liz over at Travel in Retrospect to do this. Her post on it is here. And I was happy because, I mean, I NEVER turn down an opportunity to talk about harry potter so obviously here it is….
What house are you in?
Slytherin. When I was much younger I figured myself a Ravenclaw but no, as I grew up I realised I have always been a Slytherin, it fits me much better. In fact, I’ve taken many quizzes (just because I enjoy doing them) and I’ve never gotten anything other than Slytherin.
What is your patronus?
Are we talking officially? Because I think I got some kind of dog and I hate dogs (I know, don’t attack me) so I highly doubt it would actually be a dog.
In fact, I think it would be a cat. It suits me much better. Either than or a crow or something. Lets just say I can hold a grudge, okay?
What is your wand?
Ebony and unicorn hair, 12 1/4 inches. Slightly springy.
Here’s what Pottermore has to say about it:
EbonyThis jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. In my experience the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose.
What would your boggart be?
Hmmm. A spider. I freaking hate spiders. Or a jellyfish. They are so sinister and evil. Just floating toward you like I don’t care if I kill you or not. Eeeeek.
What position would you play in Quidditch?
I’d definitely be a beater. I’m not sure what it says about me that hitting a bludger at someone would definitely be the most enjoyable position for me. I used to play football with my brother who is older or on the boy’s team in primary school (because there was no girls one, sexist much?) And I was always vicious when tackling. As in kicking people on the shins kind of vicious. But they were boys, so they never said anything about a girl hurting them and I always got away with it. So yeah. Beater.
Would you be pure blood, half blood or muggle born?
Hmmm, I feel like i definitely would have grown up knowing about the wizarding world and I mean it would be unlikely to be a muggleborn in Slytherin. Plus my mum read us harry potter when we were kids so I’m going with halfblood.
What job would you want after graduating Hogwarts?
I honestly don’t know. Writing magical stories? Haha. I love the idea of being an Auror and dueling but honestly I get the shakes from just being around people who are arguing so I doubt that would go well.
Which of the deathly hallows would you choose?
I’d definitely choose the invisibility cloak. If I could go out of the house without anybody seeing me that’d be great. I’m not much of a people person!
Favourite book and least favourite book?
Favourite book is difficult, I feel like the first one has to be up there just for the fact that it was the start and you definitely felt awe at being introduced to magic but the Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely my favourite story.
As for least, hmmm, Harry definitely gets on my nerves in Half Blood Prince. A lot.
Again the first one. The first time we see Diagon alley and platform 9 3/4 and things like that. Magical.
Least favourite film?
Half Blood Prince. No question. They messed up the book so much. And considering it was my least favourite book it should have been pretty difficult for them to give me such strong feelings about it. But the battle at the end? Bill? The DA that answered the call? They robbed me of the best bits of that book.
Remus Lupin or Sirius Black.
Lupin in a, he’s-the-best kind of way and Sirius in a, omg-you’re-such-a-drama-queen-and-I-love-it kind of way.
But I mean, I love the marauders. My heart aches just thinking about what happened to them.
PS. If you dont think that these guys ARE the marauders, do you even have the internet?
Least favourite/most hated character?
Umbridge. I can imagine sitting in her class and just having my blood boil by just having to listen to the stuff she said.
McGonagall. Is there another answer to this? Maybe Lupin, because he was great but he was only a teacher for a year whereas McGonagall was awesome the whole way through.
Least favourite teacher?
I know people will say Umbridge but she wasn’t really a teacher, was she? And Snape, and as much as he was so bad at teaching the Gryffindors at least he loved the subject. So you could learn from him. Or at least, I’m a Slytherin so I would have been able to learn from him! But Binns? I’d definitely pick Binns. It would have been impossible to learn anything in that class.
Do you have any unpopular opinions?
I don’t like Harry. There I said it. I never really have. I’ve always found him annoying. More so in the latter books. And I also think this is probably biased by the films too because Radcliffe was terrible at acting in them which just made me not like Harry more. I guess it’s no surprise that I’m writing a harry potter fanfic without harry potter!
That was fun. I tag everyone who wants to do it. But if you don’t then feel free to let me know your answers in the comments because, as I said at the start, I never turn down an opportunity to chat about harry potter! So, what would you do after Hogwarts? What were your favourite and least favourite films/books/characters? Chat with me? I need my harry potter fix.
